Ambassador Bridge still blocked after clearing one lane from vehicles
The protesters blocking access to the Ambassador Bridge say they won’t leave until both the provincial and federal government drop all pandemic-related mandates. They cleared vehicles from one lane of a street connecting to the bridge, but a few dozens of them stood blocking that cleared lane, waving Canadian flags and hoisting anti-vaccine mandate signs.

Scenes outside the Prime Minister’s Office on Day 15 of protests
Ottawa is relatively silent with a lack of horns as anti-vaccine mandate protests enter their 15th day. But the block of Wellington Street that abuts the downtown offices of the prime minister remains clogged with trucks of all sizes, including big rigs, pick-ups and at least one camper trailer, along with porta potties and numerous barbecues.

Protest blocks U.S. border crossing in Manitoba
Traffic was almost at a standstill Thursday as yet another protest against COVID-19 restrictions blocked the main border crossing between Manitoba and the United States. About three dozen trailer trucks, tractors, pickups and snowmobiles halted traffic in both directions on Highway 75, about two kilometres north of the Emerson crossing and 100 kilometres south of Winnipeg.

Protesters continue to block Ambassador Bridge
The Ambassador Bridge between Windsor, Ont., and Detroit remained closed to vehicles seeking to cross the border between Canada and the United States on Thursday as a protest against COVID-19 measures that prevented traffic from flowing. Transport minister, critic clash over travel restrictions
Conservative transport critic Melissa Lantsman says in question period that Canadian travel restrictions are not symmetrical with the U.S. and requiring PCR arrival tests is wasteful, ineffective and punitive. Ontario expands rapid test access with distribution at grocery stores, pharmacies
Ontario is expanding access to rapid antigen COVID-19 tests, making them available at grocery stores, pharmacies and other agencies across the province. The province says up to 5.5 million tests will be made available per week at retailers participating in the program that will run for at least eight weeks. Individuals can pick the tests up in-person or order online, depending on the retailer, with a general limit of one box of five tests per household per visit.

Alberta starts lifting COVID-19 rules
Premier Jason Kenney says Alberta’s vaccine passport will end almost immediately, with most other big COVID-19 health rules gone three weeks later. Kenney told a news conference the vaccine passport, known in Alberta as the restriction exemption program, had served its function and was no longer helping to further vaccination rates in the province.
