A Dumbarton youngster is “buzzing” after a video of her singing went viral and was shared by the TikTok star who wrote the song.
Seven-year-old Rosie Mae Tiffoney sang social media sensation Jax’s new hit song, Victoria’s Secret, in a video which has more than 8.6million views on TikTok and over two million on Instagram.
The Aitkenbar Primary School pupil sang the song at Louise and Des McFarlane’s Singer Station School of Music and one of those people who saw and loved the video was Jax herself, who has over 10 million followers on TikTok.
She commented: “HOLY CUTENESS!! Go rockstar GO!!!!!!!!”
Rosie Mae’s proud mum Kimberley Bullion, 31, said her little girl’s “life was made”.
She told the Lennox Herald: “She was absolutely buzzing, Rosie couldn’t believe it, her life was made.
“I was absolutely speechless. I can’t put how proud I am of her into words.
“I wish at that age, I had heard that song and had the confidence to go out there and sing that.
“It is amazing how songwriting has changed and to see my daughter singing such a positive song.”
New York singer Jax wrote the song ‘Victoria’s Secret’ promoting positive body image for soon-to-be 13-year-old girl Chelsea, whom she babysits.
The video, which has over 36 million views, begins with Jax and Chelsea sitting in the car, Jax begins to explain to her over 10 million followers that the day before, she picked up Chelsea from the mall where she had gone bikini shopping at Victoria’s Secret with her friends in preparation for her first boy and girl party.
The songwriter adds that when the young girl got into the car she was ‘hysterically’ crying because a friend had told her the bathing suit she tried on made her look ‘too fat and too flat.’
Jax, who had struggled with eating disorders, told Chelsea she decided to write a song for her to make her feel better.
Little Rosie Mae has embraced those lyrics, with her mum Kimberley, she continuing: “Rosie loves the song because it is all about body positivity, and she totally rocks that.
“She always says that ‘it doesn’t matter if you’re overweight, it only matters that you love yourself’. She’s very much on her girl power movement.
“It has inspired Rosie because she now wants to write her own songs and spread girl power.
“She wants to spread, as she calls it, ‘a pro-girl vibe’.
“The Spice Girls did that for us back in the day, and this new generation has this song that encourages people to embrace who you are and what you look like.
“It is a magical moment to be a young person, and for her to recognise that and spread it, is amazing.“
