Rookie running back Deneric Prince has burst onto the scene at the Kansas City Chiefs training camp in St. Joseph, Missouri, showing exceptional footspeed to pair with steady hands out of the team’s backfield.
His hard-nosed running style was showcased in a video tweeted by the Chiefs’ official Twitter page after Sunday’s workouts at Missouri Western State University. The clip featured Prince catching a ball thrown to him by Patrick Mahomes and a brief run that he ended by putting his shoulder into a defender’s chest.

Head coach Andy Reid is known for favoring runners who have upside as receivers in his West Coast passing attack. The revelation of Prince’s receiving ability could be a boon for Kansas City’s offense should he see action in the regular season, and is a good indication that the undrafted free agent has what it takes to cut it in the NFL.
For now, though, Prince is still fighting for a spot on the Chiefs’ 53-man roster, and may face an uphill battle as he seeks to take snaps from veterans Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Jerick McKinnon, and Isiah Pacheco.
