Video: Can Gilbert Burns or Jorge Masvidal leapfrog Colby Covington for a title shot with UFC 287 win?

The UFC’s welterweight division is crowded at the top, but the promotion appears set on having Colby Covington as the next title challenger.

However, this weekend at UFC 287, a pair of former title challengers in Gilbert Burns and Jorge Masvidal will compete at the pay-per-view event, and the winner will likely call for their shot at Leon Edwards’ title during their post-fight interview.

Could it be possible that Burns or Masvidal find themselves leapfrogging Covington with an impressive performance in Miami? Is it more likely that Masvidal gets his third title shot considering his history with Edwards? How would Burns need to win to impress UFC president Dana White in order to pass Covington?

That’s what we asked this week’s “Spinning Back Clique” panel of Brian “Goze” Garcia, Mike Bohn and Dan Tom, along with host Farah Hannoun. Check out their analysis in the video above, and don’t miss this week’s full episode below.

“Spinning Back Clique” is released each Monday LIVE on MMA Junkie’s YouTube channel.
