Carnival Cruise Line angered its passengers when it changed the late-night hours at its pizza counters last year. The cruise line's two different (but essentially the same) pizzerias, offer full pizzas made to order and they used to close at 3 a.m.
That changed last year when the cruise line began offering a late-night buffet. On the surface, the late-night menu looked like a positive at first.

It offered items like chicken soup, meatball sandwiches, chicken tenders, and chocolate chip cookies. That was a welcome expansion of the cruise line's previous pizza-only late-night offerings.
The problem is that once the late-night buffet menu rolled out, the cruise line cut back the hours of its pizza counter. That outraged some passengers.
Carnival Cruise Line does still offer pizza on its room service menu, but many passengers feel that takes too long.
Professor Melissa, a popular social media influencer, has posted multiple videos on Carnival's new late-night offering. In a Facebook post (not the Instagram video below) she laid out what the cruise line offers as night becomes late night.

Here's what's on Carnival's late-night buffet
Professor Melissa shared some positives about the new late-night offering, but also was forthcoming about the problems.
"Curious about late night food options with Carnival? Here's what you need to know. Unfortunately the late night pizza option is now a thing of the past as Carnival has phased it out and even in the hours leading up until midnight that line gets really really long because there are such other limited options. You can generally get pizza now until midnight and the deli is also open late-ish until about 11 p.m but that line goes slow and also gets really long," she said.
Melissa shared what the cruise line did and what it's offering instead.
"Many Carnival cruisers were upset about the loss of the late night pizza but Carnival has replaced it on most ships with their late night snacks which runs from 11:30 to 2:30 a.m at least on Carnival Conquest here," she added.

The problem isn't the food on the late-night buffet, at least at first.
"Now if you get to the late night snacks buffet right when it opens it looks pretty good. You get much more variety than just pizza which is nice but the problem is as the night gets later and the people get drunker the food gets grosser," she shared.
The buffet does offer pizza but it's more of a sheet pizza which the cruise line calls "Chicago-style," but it's more "frozen pizza-style."
Professor Melissa also shared that the buffet "even by 1 a.m. looks very picked over."
