Emma Bunton has said that Victoria Beckham would "be up for" joining the Spice Girls to play at Glastonbury next year.

She told Keith Lemon on his podcast Back Then When that she spoke to Beckham about the prospect and the singer-turned-fashion designer said she would be on board.

Lemon started the Glasto chat with: "I dare you to tell us if you’re going to be playing Glastonbury next year."

To which Bunton replied: "Ah, I hope so... Can I be real? No one’s asked us."

Lemon then responded in disbelief with: "No!"

Bunton explained: "No! I read it as well this week saying, ‘Oh, we’ve asked them. We’re quite far down’.

“All of us have been on the phone like… no one’s asked us!”

She added: "I think it would be fab [if they asked].

“And I have spoken to Victoria about it too. And I think she’d be up for Glasto."

Lemon said: "You have to do it."

"Yeah we’ve got to do it. Definitely,” Bunton replied.

Fellow Spice Girl, Melanie Chisolm (Mel C) was also said to have strongly hinted at her book launch at London’s Ivy Club in September that Beckham would not would not turn down the opportunity to perform on the iconic Pyramid stage.

Last month rumours circulated that the band, whose current members are Melanie Brown (Mel B), Mel C, Bunton, Geri Halliwel and previously Beckham, were in talks to headline Glastonbury 2023.

The pop band burst onto the music scene in 1994 and went on to achieve global success as the biggest girl band of all time.

The group first split in 2000 and reunited for two concert tours: Return of the Spice Girls (2007–2008) and Spice World (2019), which Beckham declined to take part in.

Beckham last performed with the band in 2012 at the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics.
