Police have arrested a sex offender who they say escaped from a correctional facility in Ararat, west of Melbourne.
The 52-year-old man was in post-sentence custody at the Warrack Road facility when he fled just after 2am on Sunday.
He was arrested without incident about 9pm on Sunday.
Earlier, police said he was known to go off-grid in bushland for days at a time, and has connections to the Ballarat area.
When searching for the man earlier on Sunday, police advised members of the public to not approach him and instead contact triple-0 if he was sighted.
