Victoria Police find body in burnt-out car

Victoria Police are investigating after the discovery of a body in a burnt-out car in Bangholme. (AAP)

A body has been found in a burnt-out car in Melbourne's southeast.

The vehicle was discovered on Bangholme Rd in Bangholme on Wednesday morning.

An arson chemist was called in as investigators work to determine what led to the death and destroyed car.

Police urge anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.

Officers are also investigating the fatal shooting of a man in Melbourne's inner north on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Brunswick Street in Fitzroy after passers-by found the man with life-threatening injuries. Paramedics treated him but he died at the scene.

Investigators believe he was involved in an altercation with multiple people at a vehicle parked on Brunswick Street before he was shot.
