Shoppers were evacuated from Victoria Centre this morning as part of a "pre-planned" operation. A member of the public contacted Nottinghamshire Live to say the evcuation had taken place at around 9.30am on Tuesday, March 29.
The centre, located off Lower Parliament Street, is usually busy with shoppers throughout the day visiting the number of stores on offer inside. A spokesperson for the centre confirmed to Nottinghamshire Live that an evacuation did take place, but that it was a "pre-planned" and "routine" operation.
Back in November last year, the centre was evacuated after a suspcted gas leak, with people in nearby flats being told to stay inside while firefighters dealt with the incident. A month earlier, too, the centre was evacuated on October 1 with shoppers told they should leave the building immediately. On this occasion a fire drill was the reason behind the evacuation.

It comes as seven new shops have been announced for the store in recent months, as retailers including Ritual Cosmetics and MINISO move into the premises. Owner of the centre, property company SGS, says the new retailers are set to enhance the shopping experience there.
