Victoria Beckham sent a birthday message to daughter-in-law Nicola Peltz as she turned 28. The Spice Girls singer turned fashion designer shared a snap of the pair appearing to share a laugh on her Instagram with the message: "Happy Birthday @NicolaAnnePeltzBeckham Hope you have a lovely day!!! X"
Victoria, 48, chose a natural picture of the women spending time together over a meal. As they sat side-by-side in the kitchen Victoria and Nicola, who is married to her eldest son Brooklyn, 23, both held a hand covering their mouth as they seemed to find something amusing.
Victoria added a love heart to her message, shared with her 30.5million followers, and American actress Nicola, whose films include Transformers and Holidate, replied with a stream of love hearts. "Thank you so much!" she told her mother-in-law.

And fans jumped to defend Victoria as some Instagrammers found fault with the picture, asking why her smile was hidden and others asked why Victoria hadn't signed off with her often-used "kisses VB."
rthkansiime20 said: "I thought was gonna see her smile but her hand knew the assignment." And stoakesey commented: "Move your hands." suenrora asked: "Kisses VB?" And dynamitedakota1 pointed out: "Didn’t write 'Kisses VB.'"
But charmand360 replied: "It looks like they're enjoying each other's company and in the middle of a good chuckle. This is exactly like my DIL and me. What a blessing! At least with this photo, VB won't have to read thousands of 'Why don't you smile?' comments!"

Nicola and aspiring chef Brooklyn married in April at actress Nicola's family estate in Florida. There had been said to be a rift between Nicola and Victoria after a problem occurred with the bride's wedding dress.
Addressing the reports, Nicola explained how the rumours began when she didn't wear a Victoria Beckham-designed wedding dress for her big day after Victoria "realised that her atelier couldn’t do it." Instead, she opted for a Valentino number despite saying she wanted to wear one of the former Spice Girl's designs.
In the same interview with Variety magazine Brooklyn insisted things were fine between him, his wife, and her in-laws: "I’ve learned they’re always going to try to write stuff like that. They’re always going to try and put people down. But everyone gets along, which is good."
They addressed the rumours again in a joint interview with Grazia USA, saying that the speculation round her and Victoria's relationship "hurt her feelings". "When I read things that say [things like] I was never planning on wearing a [Victoria Beckham] dress or things like that, it does hurt my feelings," she said.
"I try not to let it, but it’s just not the truth. It’s just a bit of a bummer when you’re like, ‘Oh, people think that,’ but it’s just not true. Addressing choosing her wedding dress designer for her big day, she added: "Well, I was planning on wearing Victoria’s wedding dress. I was truly so excited to be able to wear a design that my future mother-in-law created. I thought that was so beautiful and such a beautiful story."
She went on: "We connected to start designing the dress, and then a few days went by and I didn’t hear anything. Victoria called my mom and said her atelier couldn’t make it. So, I spoke to my mom and Leslie [Nicola’s close friend and stylist, stylist Leslie Fremar], and I was like, ‘Well, unfortunately, this can’t happen, so what’s the next step?’"
In October the couple joined the family as they attended Victoria's Paris Fashion Week debut. Brooklyn's mum broke down in tears as she showcased her spring/summer 2023 collection and was overcome with emotion. After watching models including sisters Bella and gigi Hadid walk in her first Paris runway show, proud Victoria walked along to applause and clasped her hands to her face as she took in the enormity of the occasion.
