Despite some confusion over the past year, the exact height of Spurs’ No. 1 pick Victor Wembanyama has officially been recorded.
The Frenchman stands at 7’ 3 1/2” without any shoes on, the Spurs confirmed on Wednesday.
This height puts Wembanyama half an inch shorter than what the NBA previously listed him at ahead of the NBA draft. However, he’s slightly taller than the 7’ 3 1/4” inches he was listed at back in October when he was playing in Las Vegas for two exhibition games with his French team, Metropolitans 92.
Heading into the 2023–24 season, the San Antonio rookie will officially be the second tallest player in the league behind Clippers center Boban Marjanović, who stands at 7’4”.
Wembanyama is expected to make his Spurs’ Summer League debut on July 7 when he and San Antonio will face the Hornets and No. 2 pick Brandon Miller.
The French phenom is joining a Spurs team that went 22–60 last season, the franchise’s worst record since 1997.
