Victor Wembanyama Ruled Out Of Game Due To Ankle Sprain

Victor Wembanyama

The San Antonio Spurs have announced that rookie Victor Wembanyama will be sidelined for their upcoming game against the Sacramento Kings due to a sprained right ankle. The injury occurred during the second quarter of the Spurs' recent game against the Houston Rockets, where Wembanyama appeared to roll his ankle. Despite initially being subbed out shortly after the incident, he returned to play in the third quarter and continued for most of the second half.

This marks the seventh game that Wembanyama will miss this season, having started in 56 of the Spurs' first 62 games. As the top pick in last year's draft and a strong contender for the Rookie of the Year award, Wembanyama has been showcasing impressive stats throughout the season. He is currently averaging 20.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and leads the league with 3.4 blocked shots per game.

Notably, the last player to achieve averages of at least 20 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 blocks in a full season was Shaquille O'Neal in the 1999-2000 season. Furthermore, no rookie in NBA history has concluded a season with such remarkable numbers, highlighting Wembanyama's exceptional performance in his debut season.
