Victor Wembanyama had become very accustomed to losing—and being away from San Antonio Spurs fans.
The recent road trip was not kind to the Spurs, who had lost five straight games—and eight of their last nine road contests—heading into Thursday's home tilt against the Oklahoma City Thunder at Frost Bank Center.
That changed on Thursday, as Wembanyama out-dueled Thunder big man Chet Holmgren with a historic performance, helping San Antonio end their five-game skid.
After the game, the talented Spurs rookie was asked during an on-court interview how it felt to get the win in front of the home crowd. Wembanyama, to the delight of Spurs legend David Robinson and San Antonio fans, said he "missed this s---," via Bleacher Report on X (formerly Twitter).

Wembanyama then led the fans in a "Go Spurs Go" chant.
The French phenom did everything right on the court as well, pouring in 28 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and five blocks while draining five three-pointers, becoming the first player in NBA history to record 25-plus points, 10-plus rebounds, and five or more assists, blocks and triples.
But Wembanyama, already beloved by Spurs fans, would likely be the first to say that a win in front of the home crowd was all he cared about.
The No. 1 pick from the 2023 draft is averaging 20.7 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 3.3 blocks per game across 54 contests for the 12–48 Spurs.
