Victor Wanyama has joked he told Alistair Johnston to hit the gym so he would be ready to lift trophies at Celtic.
The CF Montreal defender arrived at the Scottish champions ahead of the January transfer window after an impressive World Cup finals with Canada. Ange Postecoglou moved quickly to bring in a new right-back with Josip Juranovic rumoured to be leaving and his move to the Bundesliga with Union Berlin going through shortly after.
Johnston has made a brilliant start to life at the Hoops and has instantly settled in. He's already bagged his first winners' medal following the League Cup Final win over Rangers with the defender hoping to add a Premiership and Scottish Cup medal to his haul this term. Wanyama was a fans' favourite during his time in Glasgow and netted in that unforgettable Champions League win over Barcelona.

The midfielder has now opened up on the advice he gave Johnston ahead of his switch to Celtic as he made a brilliant quip about the reason he will need to work extra hard in the gym.
He told the Celtic view podcast: “Alistair, what a player first of all, and what a man. Besides football, he’s a very good human being.
“He asked me about Celtic and I told him everything. [I told him] that’s the place to be. Since then I couldn’t stop telling him about Celtic.
“I pushed him there and I was happy that he made that move. I’m also happy seeing him perform well every weekend. I still support the Bhoys so I’m happy when they do well.”
Asked if he still follows Celtic games, he added: “Sure, I try to follow every game. Some of them are very early in the morning but I still try to watch.
“The Bhoys are doing well so I told Alistair that he had to go to the gym so that he can be ready to lift a lot of trophies.
“He was not used to that. Now he has to get used to it, so he needs more gym so he is able to lift the trophies at Celtic.”
