Victor Osimhen makes bold Manchester United transfer decision amid Arsenal interest

Napoli forward Victor Osimhen would turn down a move to Arsenal if a bid from Manchester United came in for him. That’s according to Corriere dello Sport journalist Antonio Giordano, who claims both clubs have been keeping tabs on the 23-year-old.

He’s netted 15 goals in 25 matches so far this season, four of which have come in his last two fixtures. Newcastle reportedly tried to sign Osimhen in January but Napoli rebuffed any offers, making it clear they were keeping him until at least the summer. The Magpies had apparently offered £83.5m for the striker.

However, recent reports from Corriere dello Sport (via Football Italia) said Napoli have increased their asking price to at least £100m with Osimhen’s form continuing to blossom. Both the Gunners and United are said to not be put off, albeit would likely want to negotiate down from that nine-figure fee.

Giordano, though, says the Nigeria international would favour a move to Old Trafford rather than the Emirates. “Arsenal never stopped following him and, surprisingly, Manchester United,” he said (via TEAMtalk).

“In the personal imagination of a 23-year-old player, United are a temptation and if the Red Devils reach certain figures, history teaches us those certain operations must be done.” This assessment comes after Osimhen’s agent insisted his client is not distracted by the rumours linking him to a move to England.

However, some reports state the relationship between him and his employers is becoming slightly rocky. Gazzetta dello Sport (via Manchester Evening News) claim Osimhen came back late from international duty with Nigeria, which has stirred some unrest in the changing room.

Arsenal are battling with Tottenham for a Premier League top four spot while United are considered outside contenders, currently languishing in seventh. Nevertheless, this may seemingly not be a factor for Osimhen, if Giordano’s comments are anything to go by.
