Arsenal are interested in Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, according to recent reports.
The Gunners had been actively pursuing a deal for Fiorentina frontman Dusan Vlahovic but as football.london reported earlier in the month, the player had told close friends that he favoured a move to Juventus or Inter Milan instead, with the former now thought to be closing in on a transfer for the Serbian international.
That has left technical director Edu to explore a deal for other centre-forwards across Europe, with the likes of Lille star Jonathan David and Real Sociedad youngster Alexander Isak both named as potential targets.
Now, Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, via Football Italia, have claimed that Osimhen is of interest to the north London outfit, with Newcastle United also reportedly keen on the 23-year-old.
A deal for the Nigeria international appears unlikely this month considering we are into the final days of the window.
However, the prolific frontman has previously admitted of his desire to one day play in the Premier League, potentially opening the door to a future move to the Emirates Stadium at some point in the future.
“I spoke with Arsene Wenger after the tournament (Under-17 World Cup) ended and he wanted me to come to Arsenal,” Osimhen told the Independent back in 2020.
“I had a lot of options. Barcelona; Inter Milan; Atletico Madrid; Juventus and the rest. Arsenal was a good option but it wasn’t the best at the time. I wanted to start playing as soon as I turned 18.
"I wanted to go to a place where I had time to invest in my game and improve physically. Wolfsburg showed me that possibility.
“Of course, one day I’d like to play for a big club in England... my priority is to play a lot of games. Signing for a big club and being on the bench is not exciting for me.”
