Chelsea are expecting to appoint Red Bull Leipzig's technical director Christopher Vivell meaning Victor Orta is set to stay at Leeds United in his role as director of football.
The Spaniard has been with the Whites since 2017 and was reportedly on a list of five names that new Blues owner Todd Boehly wanted to replace Petr Cech who left the role earlier this year.
Vivell is said to have had talks with the Blues on Tuesday in London about leaving Leipzig where he's been since 2020 after a clash of "differing views" according to the German club - which could be over the 35-year-old Vivell pushing for the sale of 24-year-old forward Christopher Nkunku to Chelsea.

The Blues need to fill both vacancies in the technical and sporting director roles but with Vivell's expected appointment, the Leeds man seems to be set to remain in his position at Elland Road.
Interestingly, Orta was said to be on a shortlist that reportedly did not include Vivell but did include former Leicester City and Celtic talent scout Lee Congerton who is currently employed by Serie A club Atalanta alongside Monchi of Sevilla and Rui Pedro Braz at Benfica.
The Blues were close to bringing in RB Salzburg's sporting director Christoph Freund earlier last month but talks broke down, leaving them on the hunt still.
It's believed Boehly wants Vivell to have a collaborative approach with new Blues manager, Graham Potter, and expects the technical director to look after the day-to-day running of their training ground.
