Victor Orta backs Jack Harrison to play 'crucial' role in Leeds United future after contract extension

Victor Orta has described Jack Harrison as a 'crucial part' of Leeds United's future plans after he penned a new five-year deal with the club.

Harrison's future has been a subject of speculation for some time, as Leeds fended off interest from Newcastle United and Leicester City over the past two transfer windows.

The 26-year-old, who originally joined the Whites from Manchester City on loan in 2018, has extended his stay at Elland Road until the summer of 2028.

He has scored three goals and contributed two assists in six games since Javi Gracia succeeded Jesse Marsch in February. And after scoring in the win against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, Orta has tipped Harrison to go from strength to strength after committing his future to the club.

"Jack is a crucial part of our squad and our plans going forward and I'm really happy he has agreed to commit his long-term future to the club," Orta said.

"He is one of the most professional players I have come across in my career. He has an unbelievable attitude and only wants to continue improving and I know we will see him at the peak over the duration of the next five years."
