Victor Lindelof wants Manchester United to control games better after they gave Bournemouth plenty of chances to get back into the game on Wednesday.
United ended up kicking off 2023 in style as they eased past Bournemouth 3-0 to maintain their winning streak but things weren't quite as smooth sailing as they could have been. United had the game sewn up by the 50th minute with Casemiro and Luke Shaw putting them two ahead but they then took their foot off the gas.
The Cherries had three good chances to get back into the game and had to call upon David de Gea to keep them out on each occasion. Marcus Rashford rounded out the scoring late on but Lindelof still wants United to get better.

“It is always great to score some goals and keep a clean sheet. I think we made it a little bit difficult towards the end, we could have controlled the game a little bit better. But we kept a clean sheet and won the game, so that is most important," he told United's in-house media.
“I think is very important to have a squad. Because like you said, the games are coming thick and fast now so we need everyone to be ready to go out there and perform. That’s just what we need. Of course, the best thing in football is to play games. And when the games are coming thick and fast, it is the best thing.”
The match was Lindelof's first start since club football's resumption, alongside Harry Maguire, and the Swede heaped praise upon his centre-back partner. He added: “It is nice to be back. It’s always nice to get some minutes in the legs and to help the team get the three points.
"It felt good physically and, obviously, I have played a lot of games with 'H' [Maguire] so I thought he worked well today. We played a lot of games together and I think he is a fantastic player and he performed at a very high level today.”
