Victor Altamirano has stepped up to the plate for his first matchup against a ranked opponent.
With Allan Nascimento out for undisclosed reasons, Altamirano (12-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) steps into a flyweight bout June 3 vs. Tim Elliott (18-12-1 MMA, 7-10 UFC). The card is a UFC Fight Night at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Altamirano announced the bout Friday during an Instagram live with MMA Junkie. An additional person with knowledge of the matchup also confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.
Altamirano, 32, dropped his UFC debut but has since won back-to-back fights against Daniel Lacerda and Vinicius Salvadar. Both victories earned him $50,000 performance bonuses.
Elliott, 36, is a former UFC flyweight title challenger who has won three of his most recent four bouts. He most recently competed at UFC 272 in March 2022 when he defeated Tagir Ulanbekov via unanimous decision. He was scheduled to compete in June 2022 but withdrew.
