Queensland set 350 for Shield win over Victoria

Queensland will face a testing run chase of 350 in the final innings of their Sheffield Shield match against Victoria at the MCG, after the home team was dismissed for 217 just before tea.

Nightwatchman Mitchell Perry starred for Victoria with a first-class career best of 75, exceeding his previous high by one run.

He added 112 for the fifth wicket either side of lunch with Matt Short (58) before being caught at backward point off Mark Steketee

Victoria lost 6-46 with paceman Xavier Bartlett (4-32), Michael Neser (2-39) and Steketee (2-39) the main wicket takers.

After Perry's dismissal, Bartlett had captain Will Sutherland well caught at midwicket by Bryce Street, and Short taken at deep point by Sam Truloff in the same over.

The collapse continued with Fergus O'Neill (1) caught behind off Liam Guthrie, Jon Holland (0) skying a Matthew Kuhnemann delivery to mid-off and Cameron McClure (0) taken by wicketkeeper Jimmy Peirson off Neser in the last over before tea to end the innings.
