Vicky White tells escaped inmate Casey White to ‘run’ in chilling 911 call just before capture

With their 11-day escape coming to an end, corrections officer Vicky White frantically tried to pivot their plan before her apparent suicide.

In a 911 call released Wednesday that seemingly captures White’s last moments in Evansville, Ind., she can be heard yelling “Stop! Please stop!” at Casey White, the inmate she helped escape.

“Before those airbags go off and kill us!” she said.

Several pops can be heard, likely when the airbags activate after pursuing officers purposely hit their car in an attempt to stop them. White then implores her partner in crime to “get out and run.”

The next noise heard on the call is a high-pitched shriek and a thud, before sirens start.

Various voices, likely police officers, say “she’s breathing,” “she’s got a gun in her hand” and “she’s got her finger on the trigger.”

The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office confirmed late Tuesday that Vicky White died by suicide from a gunshot wound to the head.

Casey White was taken into custody immediately and has since been extradited back to Alabama for the murder charges he was already facing, and now an added charge of first-degree escape.

But there are still few if any answers about how — and more importantly why — this all happened. Vicky White, described as a model employee, sold her house months before the escape and had put in retirement papers effective April 29, the day she drove off with the inmate, with whom she had a “special relationship.”

“I’ve learned that you just don’t know people sometimes,” Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton said at a press conference Monday.
