Vicky Pattison praised for opening up on anxiety battle which is 'impossible to ignore'

Vicky Pattison has been praised by her followers after sharing her insight to anxiety online.

The 35-year-old former Geordie Shore star this morning took to Instagram to share a photo of 'things that make anxiety worse' with her 5.3million followers, after opening up with her own instances with the mental health condition earlier this week.

Always an advocate for promoting good mental wellbeing, Vicky took to Insta to share her knowledge on the subject with others.

She wrote: "After my post on Monday, I had a lot of people reach out and tell me that I wasn't alone. A lot of people thanked me for verbalising how they were feeling and a lot of people asked for advice. Clearly I'm not an expert and I certainly don't claim to have all the answers but rather serendipitously this popped up on my feed yesterday and it felt important to share it.

"When those dark clouds start rolling in and I can feel myself becoming anxious, negative and overwhelmed I know I should try and do something about it- I know I should get outside, I should move my body or get hydrated but once I'm properly 'in' it so to speak- I don't have the strength or the inclination to do something that will pull me out of the storm inside my head.

"Instead I lie there- scrolling through social media staring at everyone's supposed perfect lives and allow those carefully curated, tiny little squares to make me feel worse. I eat all the things I shouldn't, my sleep becomes fractured or nonexistent and I just wallow.

"Once you're in the midst of these feelings and dark thoughts it's so difficult to pull yourself from it and actually do something that will help- so today, when I'm feeling more hopeful and positive, I'm going to write a little list of all the things that I know bring me joy and peace, things that calm my mind, things that get me out of my head and into my body and that way when I'm next feeling low or anxious I can just go to my list and try something from there!

"I think my list would be full of things like; watch Brooklyn 99, go out with the dogs, make a to do list, put my phone down etc! (That last one is the BIG one!) What would be on your list?? It can be anything from a familiar show that makes you laugh, a playlist that gets you on your feet, being creative... even an ice bath! (Which terrifies me but it's supposedly brilliant for getting you out of your own head)

"Leave you lists below..."

The photograph shared alongside the post detailed a number of things which makes anxiety worse, and included the likes of caffeine, heavy drinking, neglecting sleep, not getting fresh air and spending too much time on social media.

And Vicky's friends and followers were quick to agree with her and praise her for having the courage to detail her own experiences. Dean Rowland, wrote: "Very spot on," while Amy Sheppard, added: "Yes.. 100% to all of these. Coffee is the worst for me - I never seem to learn! X."

Claire Clemmet, commented: "All these just make me more miserable, angry & frustrated," while Becca Morris, said: "This! The not moving your body with caffeine in hand scrolling online!"

Ellieinad85, joked: "I feel like this is anxiety bingo - House," while Alisa Carty, penned: "YES. It's me. I'm the problem. Well most of them."
