Vicky Pattison admits she feared she would ‘go the same way’ as her alcoholic father

Vicky Pattison revealed she worried she would 'go the same way' as her alcoholic father.

The former Geordie Shore star had moments in her life where she was 'exactly like him' even when she didn't want to emulate his behaviour.

During her days on the reality show, she was known for her drinking and going out but has since changed her lifestyle.

She even has a Channel 4 documentary called Vicky Pattison: My Dad, Alcohol and Me coming out.

Speaking to The Times Magazine, she discussed how the Geordie Shore castmembers gained a reputation for 'glamourising' binge drinking.

The 34-year-old even admitted that watching the show made her 'feel sick to her stomach' as she 'didn't like who it made me become'.

"I believed I was my father’s daughter, so it was going to happen sooner or later and didn’t really matter when," she explained.

"Loads of people on the show had a really nice time and became funny and silly and then stopped. That was never me. I don’t have an off switch and I was never a nice drunk."

The star, who left the show in 2014, went on to explain her relationship with her father and said his drinking got worse when she got older.

Vicky said that you 'think it's normal' when you grow up in a certain environment.

"I thought all houses were loud. Dad used to fall over an awful lot," she said.

“The boys didn’t want to knock on my door because Dad could be scary. I didn’t want to be like him. But at points, I’ve been exactly like him."

She got 'frightened' at the idea that becoming an alcoholic was in a person's genes and said she 'needed to take steps to change things'.

The programme will see the TV star and author undergo a medical screening to see if her own lifestyle has done irreparable damage to her body.

She is keen to find out as much as she can in order to keep herself healthy while discussing the devastating impact addiction and alcohol has had on her and her loved ones.

Daniel Fromm, commissioning editor at Channel 4 previously said "Vicky and her Dad are hugely courageous for making a film that shares such a private and complex family history.

"By allowing them to tell their story, we hope to help break the stigma around addiction and shed fresh light on how to spot when drinking becomes a problem."
