Vice President Kamala Harris made a visit to Georgia, landing at the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport on Wednesday. She was accompanied by Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who met her at the airport. The duo was warmly welcomed by several individuals, including Rep. Nikema Williams and Savannah Mayor Van Johnson, as well as students from Savannah State University.
Their first stop was at Liberty County High School in Hinesville, where Harris and Walz spoke to students, emphasizing the importance of their generation in shaping the future of the country. Harris encouraged the students, stating that the country is relying on them to drive progress forward. Walz, a former public school teacher and coach, highlighted the significance of education as a pathway to the middle class.
Following their school visit, Harris and Walz visited Sandfly BBQ in Savannah, where they interacted with the restaurant's owner, employees, and diners. They took the time to engage with the staff and even posed for selfies with patrons.
Before concluding their day, Harris expressed her admiration for the restaurant's success, commending the employees on their achievements. The day wrapped up around 7:40 p.m. ET as Harris and Walz arrived at their hotel, bidding farewell with a friendly wave to onlookers.
