Vice President Kamala Harris delivered a keynote speech at the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.’s biennial convention, urging Black women voters to take action as the Biden-Harris reelection campaign intensifies. Speaking to a large audience at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center in Dallas, Harris emphasized the critical nature of the upcoming election, calling it 'the most existential consequential and important election of our lifetimes.'
Harris called on the attendees to energize, organize, and mobilize voters, stressing the impact of their collective efforts. She highlighted the historical significance of Black women in shaping the political landscape, citing their pivotal role in Joe Biden's victory in 2020.
During her speech, Harris expressed gratitude to Alpha Kappa Alpha, the sorority she joined at Howard University, for their ongoing commitment to social change and community engagement. She commended the sorority for its contributions to the election of Biden as President and herself as the first woman Vice President of the United States.
As part of her campaign efforts, Harris is traveling to various states, including Nevada and North Carolina, to engage with key voter demographics such as Black, female, and young voters. She aims to rally support following Biden's recent debate performance and to mobilize supporters for the upcoming election.
In addition to addressing the importance of voter turnout, Harris discussed the Biden administration's policy achievements, focusing on healthcare, the economy, and maternal care. She announced the creation of national health and safety standards for maternal care, underscoring the administration's commitment to improving healthcare outcomes for women.
