Vice President Kamala Harris is set to travel to Detroit, Michigan, today to take part in a radio town hall event hosted by comedian and radio co-host Charlamagne tha God. The event, titled 'We the People,' is aimed at addressing concerns within the Democratic party regarding the growing support for Republicans among Black men and Harris' efforts to rebuild the diverse coalition that contributed to President Joe Biden's victory in 2020.

Charlamagne tha God, also known as Lenard McKelvey, is a popular host with a significant following on digital platforms. His show, the Breakfast Club, attracts an estimated 8 million listeners per month, with over half of them being Black.

The hour-long conversation between Harris and Charlamagne tha God is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET on Tuesday. The event will feature questions from callers in battleground states and will be broadcast on approximately 139 radio stations nationwide, as well as through various digital streams and the iHeartRadio app.

During the town hall, Harris will focus on economic issues and discuss the challenges faced by Black Americans in building intergenerational wealth. This interview follows Harris' recent announcement of new proposals targeting Black men as part of her efforts to strengthen the Democratic coalition.

The decision to engage with Charlamagne tha God aligns with the campaign's strategy of reaching out to voters through non-traditional platforms and influencers, particularly those who do not rely on mainstream media for information.

Former President Barack Obama, who made a surprise visit to a Harris campaign office in Pittsburgh last week, expressed concerns about the lack of enthusiasm among Black men, emphasizing the need to energize this demographic.
