Vice President Harris Engages With Uncommitted National Movement Leaders

Kamala Harris is talking to people.

During a rally in Detroit, leaders of the Uncommitted National Movement had a brief conversation with Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. This interaction occurred amidst Harris' involvement in the Israel-Hamas conflict, both diplomatically and politically, as she leads the Democratic ticket.

The founders of the Uncommitted National Movement expressed their concerns to Harris and Walz regarding the US supplying weapons to Israel and the situation of Palestinian civilians in Gaza. They conveyed their disapproval of President Joe Biden's handling of the conflict.

One of the founders mentioned that Harris was receptive to their concerns and thanked them for their engagement. They expressed hope that Harris would seriously consider their request for an arms embargo to prevent further harm to civilians.

A spokesperson for the Harris campaign stated that the meeting was part of Harris' ongoing dialogue with Arab, Muslim, and Palestinian communities regarding the Gaza conflict. The spokesperson reiterated Harris' commitment to ensuring Israel's defense against Iran and Iran-backed groups while also working towards a ceasefire and hostage resolution.

The Vice President's focus remains on ending the war in a manner that prioritizes Israel's security, releases hostages, alleviates the suffering of Palestinian civilians, and upholds the rights of the Palestinian people to dignity, freedom, and self-determination.
