Former Navy SEALs are mobilizing hundreds of veterans to march in Washington, D.C., next week in support of Pete Hegseth's confirmation for defense secretary. Hegseth, a former Army National Guardsman, is set to appear before the Armed Services Committee for a hearing on Tuesday.

The group, led by Bill Brown and Rob Sweetman, plans to gather veterans outside the Dirksen Senate Office Building at 4 a.m. before the hearing begins at 9:30 a.m. They aim to pack the hearing room with as many veterans as possible to show their support for Hegseth.

Brown and Sweetman, who got to know Hegseth through their involvement in the New York City SEAL Swim, are rallying veterans to march in solidarity at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

The organizers expressed their belief in the power of physical presence over social media support. Sweetman's organization, 62Romeo, which assists veterans transitioning out of the military, is sponsoring the event.

Despite allegations against Hegseth, including inappropriate behavior with women and past controversial comments, the veterans remain steadfast in their support. They vouch for Hegseth's integrity and leadership qualities.

The organizers are motivated by their dissatisfaction with the current Pentagon leadership, particularly in light of recent events such as the Afghanistan withdrawal and the Pentagon's failed audits. They hope Hegseth will bring accountability and efficiency to the defense department.

Veterans who served with Hegseth commend his dedication to the mission and his commitment to his fellow soldiers. They highlight his hands-on approach and his ability to connect with enlisted soldiers on a personal level.

Despite Hegseth's rank as a retired major, veterans like Angelo Martinez, who served under him, appreciate his willingness to be actively involved with his troops rather than detached as a higher-ranking officer.

The veterans' unwavering support for Hegseth reflects their belief in his leadership capabilities and his suitability for the role of defense secretary.
