Veteran wide receiver A.J. Green is retiring from the NFL following 11 seasons in the league, he announced on Instagram.
The Bengals drafted Green out of Georgia with the fourth pick in the 2011 NFL draft, marking the start of an impressive career.
In his first seven pro seasons, Green recorded at least 1,000 receiving yards six times and earned seven consecutive Pro Bowl selections. He played nine seasons with the Bengals before moving to the Cardinals for the past two years.
“Thank you to all who have supported, encouraged, and inspired me throughout my career,” Green wrote on Instagram. “Special thank you to the University of Georgia, Cincinnati Bengals, and Arizona Cardinals for the opportunity to pursue my dreams. Toward the end of his career, Green dealt with a variety of injuries that slowed his production. In 2019, he suffered an ankle injury that forced him to miss the entire year. He surpassed 800 receiving yards just once in his final four seasons.
Green finishes his career with 727 catches, 10,514 receiving yards and 70 touchdowns.
