An Armed Services Community Group in Larkhall is back up and running and looking for new members.
Held within Larkhall and District Volunteer Group's premises, members were extremely disappointed when a week before the group was due to launch in March 2020 the global pandemic hit and halted their plans for the best part of 18 months.
However, the group is back with a bang for 2022 and are working full steam ahead for the area's veterans.
Events over the last few months have included: an outing to Stirling Castle, which is also the home of the newly refurbished Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Regimental Museum; a trip was to ‘The Devil’s Porridge’ Museum in Eastriggs; an interesting and informative talk from Frank Gribben of Age Scotland’s Veterans Project; and a superb presentation delivered by Veterans 1st Point, a one stop shop for Veterans and their families and both organisations supplied the members with lots of beneficial information.
Members have also enjoyed a games afternoon, a Jubilee celebration lunch and some tricky flying lessons for those who were able to experience piloting a plane on a virtual flight.
A spokesman for the group told Lanarkshire Live : "We would love to welcome new and old members to the group, to share experiences, enjoy informative talks, visit interesting places, and enjoy a cuppa and some engaging company.
"If this is something you or someone you know would like to be a part of, please get in touch by phoning us on 01698 888893 or email us at admin@ldvg.org.uk.
