Tevin Coleman and the Jets are sticking together.
The veteran running back is re-signing with Gang Green, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Contract terms were not reported, but Coleman inked a one-year, $1.1 million deal with the Jets last offseason.
Coleman, 28, is plenty familiar with Gang Green’s staff, dating back to his years with the 49ers and Falcons. He showed he still has some gas left in the tank in 2021, rushing for 356 yards on 84 carries over 11 games.
Coleman primarily served as a complementary back — though he did start five games — and a mentor for New York’s younger rushers. Michael Carter established himself as the lead back in his rookie season, while Ty Johnson matched Coleman’s 95 touches.
La’Mical Perine also remains as a holdover in the Jets’ backfield for now.
