A Newark veterinary surgery has issued a troubling warning as dogs were admitted after eating marijuana.
In the four days from Wednesday, March 9, two dogs had to be cared for after consuming the banned substance while out for a walk.
Dixon and Young Veterinary Surgery, based in New Ollerton, told followers to "please please be careful" when taking their dogs out.
Janice Dixon, who is the owner of one of the dogs, named Pringle, is a vet surgeon herself.
Days after Pringle was treated, another dog, named Scruffy, was presented with the same symptoms. The vets decided to issue a statement warning people about the dangers when out walking dogs.
The vets believe that the location on the occasion that Scruffy feel ill was a bridle way leading Kirton to Tuxford next to Westwood solar panel farm.
A Facebook post released by the surgery on the morning of Wednesday, March 9, read: "A warning.
"In the last four days we’ve had two dogs present to us with neurological signs following ingestion of marijuana on a walk, one of which was our very own Pringle!
"Please keep an eye on what your dogs are sniffing at or nibbling when out walking. After Pringle became unwell, we retraced our steps to find what she’d eaten.
"When Scruffy presented to us yesterday looking the same we felt we should warn you all as there’s clearly a lot of it being left about - please please be careful."
