'Very sad': Vegan restaurant announces sudden closure after seven years

A GLASGOW restaurant has announced its sudden closure after seven years in the city.

Vegan and vegetarian eatery Picnic is trading for the final time on Sunday, April 30.

A spokesperson for the Merchant City spot said: "We are very sad to announce that tomorrow (Sunday, April 30) will be our last day of trading.

"We’d like to thank everybody who’s supported us over the last 7 years and especially our regular customers, many of whom we consider friends.

"Thanks again. Stay healthy and vegan!"

Some loyal customers began to share their disappointment at the news of Picnic's closure, with one writing on Facebook: "Gutted. Love to you all."

Another wrote: "Aww no, I'm so sad for you as it's so hard for small businesses right now. Sending you love."
