'Very important' - Trent Alexander-Arnold delivers Man City title assessment after Liverpool draw

Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has conceded that they need Manchester City to drop points but remains hopeful of landing his second Premier League winners' medal.

The two English giants played out an eye-catching 2-2 draw in their title showdown on Sunday. Jurgen Klopp's side had to fight back twice after the Blues took the lead through Kevin de Bruyne, in the opening five minutes, and Gabriel Jesus shortly before the interval.

Alexander-Arnold fears a repeat of the title race three years ago when City won their final 14 games in a row to beat Liverpool to the title by a single point.

"We want to win every game we’re in, no matter the opposition we come up against," the 24-year-old told beIN Sports. "It says a lot about us that we’ve got that slight disappointment not to come here (to City) and win.

"It was very important for us not to lose this game, we’re still in a decent position but it is in their hands. A few years ago (in 2018-19) this is what happened.

"They ( City ) went on a really good run and we weren’t able to capitalise on that. Hopefully, this time around, they will drop a few points for us.

"Every week there is a surprising result in the Premier League. We’re just hoping we are not on the end of one and City are.

"It is seven games. Who knows what will happen, hopefully we make it exciting.

"It might go down to the last day again," the defender added. A point separates City and Liverpool with seven games remaining, they both play their respective Champions League second legs before meeting against at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday.
