'Very comfortable leather couch' in Dublin living room listed on Airbnb for €50 a night

A “very comfortable leather couch” in a Dublin living room is being listed on Airbnb for €50 per night.

The listing is by the same man who had a tent available for rent earlier this week at the back of the same property, according to the Irish Examiner. Anyone who avails of the room has access to the kitchen, toilets, showers, and a towel. They even get a cover sheet, duvet, and pillow.

The listing reads: “My house is safe, and is a lovely environment to spend a few days in. “It is quiet after 11pm in my house so you will have your comfort in this spacious and serene space.” The couch is booked out for Thursday, Friday and Saturday night this weekend, as well as for September 23 and 24 later this month.

One reviewer who stayed there in August said it was: “a business that works and that surfs on the shortage of housing in summer in Dublin”. Another review said that the property “is fulfilling a need for students and others newly arrived in Dublin" and to “be prepared for noise with white noise machines and/or ear plugs.”

This comes after a tent in a man's back garden was being advertised on Airbnb for €35 a night for those who want to "be close to nature". Lodgers will be able to avail of the facilities - such as the bathroom, shower and kitchen - within the host's "large house", but will have to retire to the tent to get their 40 winks.

The "fully waterproof" tent close to Phoenix Park has been rated highly by previous guests, who praised the "comfortable" accommodation. The ad for the tent on Airbnb reads: "This large tent with a mini living room in front of the sleeping area. Double air mattress inside with many blankets, duvets and pillows for maximum comfort. It's a 4 person tent but it is set up for 2 people.

The tent has "blackout sides [which] means you sleep great". The ad continues: "You have full use of the house facilities also, shower and for cooking etc. It is in a peaceful area and by my large house. A great environment to relax and be close to nature."

The advertisement for the sofa was taken down at the time of publishing and the Airbnb host seemed to have deleted their profile. Dublin Live has contacted Airbnb for comment.
