Nottingham Forest's "very aggressive" approach to signing Jesse Lingard has been lauded by the player after the Marinakis family made him feel wanted and showed him love.
The 29-year-old was wanted by several other Premier League clubs this summer as a free agent after officially leaving Manchester United at the end of last month. Former loan club West Ham United were one of those credited with an interest and whom the Reds are said to have beaten to the signing.
Lingard has now spoken about the approach from Forest, which convinced him that the City Ground was the place to sign this season. It was a joint effort from head coach Steve Cooper and the club's owners.

On the latter, Lingard told Forest TV of the influence they had on his decision: "They played a huge part, to be honest.
"They showed me love, every time we spoke they wanted me to come down to London to sort a deal out, and they were very aggressive with their approach, and I love that, you want someone, especially a club owner, to want you at their club.
Asked about how it feels to be at the club, Lingard replied: "It feels good. It's been a long few months, a long past few days, especially, trying to get the deal over the line, but I'm really happy."
