Vera's Jon Morrison shocks co-stars with 'hidden' talent on set of ITV drama

Jon Morrison has been impressing his co-stars by showcasing a 'hidden' talent on the set of the ITV drama.

After a near year long hiatus from screens, Vera has returned in style in recent weeks with the mystery of what happened to the 'missing' episodes from series 11 finally solved, 12 months after fans were left wondering when or if they would ever get to see them. Vera's come back to ITV started with Vital Signs, as leading lady Brenda Blethyn starred opposite a very well known face to soap fans, Holby City legend Hugh Quarshie.

That was followed by The Way The Wind Blows, before series 12 kicked off with Against the Tide, with 80s TV icon, Watching actor Paul Bown at the heart of the action. There was another new episode for fans to settle down to watch at the weekend - For The Grace of God - starring Our Girl star Mark Armstrong as a former soldier found dead down the Quayside and there are now just two episodes left of Vera's current run.

Blue will air on ITV this coming Sunday, February 12, before things wrap up with The Darkest Evening, another one of North East based author Ann Cleeves' best selling books. That episode will see secrets from Vera's past unravel, as fans finally get to learn more about DCI Stanhope. And leading lady Brenda got drenched during filming for it,. as rain battered her and her co-stars.

Brenda's castmates of course include Scottish actor Jon, who plays Kenny Lockhart in Vera, having previously appeared on screen in the likes of Taggart and The Bill.

And Brenda has revealed that his talents aren't limited to acting, sharing that his singing often helps keep people going behind the scenes during long days of filming.

Talking about the new series, Brenda said: "We try to liven things up during filming. Jon Morrison, who plays DC Kenny Lockhart, has a great voice. He can blow the windows out, it’s so powerful. I can’t sing but I am always singing. Everything to me is a cue for a song. Anything to chivvy the day along. To keep spirits up. Things like show tunes and ‘Rawhide’.

Teasing that she also has a secret talent of her own, Brenda added: "I also tried to teach Kenny Doughty to tap dance but failed miserably. I can’t do it very well myself but I know time steps and so on. There’s a job to do so it’s not all fun and games, although that does help us through the day."
