Vera's Brenda Blethyn shares exciting filming news with fans and pays tribute to cast and crew

Vera actress Brenda Blethyn has delighted news by sharing an on set update from production on the forthcoming series.

While the mystery continues as to when the remaining episodes of series 11 with air, with fans both in the UK and Australia now left puzzled as to why there's still a question mar hanging over the last two, the cast and crew of the hit ITV drama have been hard at work filming the next run. Eagle eyed Vera fans have seen camera rolling in the likes of Morpeth and Elswick over the last few months and, while not revealing where the action took place on Friday., BAFTA winner Brenda shared her excitement at filming an episode written by noted screenwriter Sally Abbott.

Sally is famous for putting her pen to soaps like EastEnders and Doctors as well as acclaimed drama The Coroner and, clearly delighted at getting to work with her, Brenda took to Twitter to post: "Just wrapped on Sally Abbots fantastic episode of Vera. Many thanks to Sally, Producer Debbie Shewell, and director Claire Winyard. Not to mention all the cast and crew. I’m proud to be part of it all."

Every time Brenda posts about Vera, her words get a huge reaction and, commenting on the tweet from Friday, one fan told her: "Well done to you @BrendaBlethyn and the cast and crew, you work so hard to entertain us all. Can't wait to see the new series." Echoing those sentiments, a second reacted: "I love your show so much. You have so much stamina and energy. Always walking fast. You're a great actor. Can't wait to watch more. Thank you so much for adding something wonderful to my life."

Jennifer Bull, a Geordie actress who starred in the very episode Brenda tweeted about, replied: "Loved being part of this episode in CID role you are all so lovely, hoping to get back for the next one."

Brenda's filming update comes as tickets for a Viva Vera event in Whitley Bay, which she will be attending with co-star Kenny Doughty and writer Ann Cleeves, broke ox office records for the Playhouse, with the show becoming the fastest selling in the venue's history.
