The region's best-loved detective was back in Northumberland for three days of filming ahead of seven new Vera episodes which will hit screens in 2023.
Brenda Blethyn and her co-star Kenny Doughty were in Corbridge ahead of the village's Christmas Tree Festival, the village's busiest weekend of the year. The latest round of filming is based on the book The Rising Tide, which came out in September this year.
Businesses throughout the village were transformed into those of Kimmerston village: Baby at the Bank, a shop inside the village's old Lloyds Bank, temporarily became a solicitors' office; Tea and Tipple Coffee Shop became the Bread and Olive Delicatessen; and Corbridge Garden Rooms was renamed... you guessed it, Kimmerston Garden Rooms.

The filming was rounded up on Friday, with shots in the car park of popular pub The Angel. It's not the first time Corbridge has been used as a filming location, with Vera's distinctive Land Rover Defender having been seen driven across the village bridge, while Detective Stanhope was spotted enjoying an ice cream there in June 2021.
Dave Crompton of Visit Corbridge, said: "It's been very busy in the village, lots of people have been watching as you'd expect. The Christmas Tree festival is always busy and packed out, but it was a probably a little bit busier than that."
It is still not yet known when the remaining two episodes of Vera series 11 will be shown, though they have been available for Britbox users in the US for the majority of 2022. Despite that, filming for series 12 is said to have been completed.
