Vengaboys, Pixie Lott and John Newman heading to Dumfries for Youth Beatz

The Vengabus is coming to Dumfries for Youth Beatz.

Following a three year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the UK’s biggest free festival is returning to the town with a star-studded line-up over the weekend of June 25 and 26 at Park Farm.

Ella Eyre, Pixie Lott and Nathan Evans will headline on the Saturday with John Newman, Jonas Blue, HRVY and the Vengaboys on the main stage on Sunday night.

Multi-platinum selling artist Ella Eyre said: “I’m so excited to play Youth Beatz this year, I’ve never been before and I’ve heard it’s wild so I’m looking forward to it.”

And John Newman added: “I can’t wait to come and perform in Dumfries. The atmosphere in Scotland is just amazing.”

The festival will continue to deliver a wide range of fun activities, educational events and musical performances from emerging young talent.

This year will see a further expansion of The Toon, a hard-hitting interactive drama delivered by young people which discusses knife crime, drugs and alcohol, domestic violence and bullying.

Councillor Adam Wilson, the authority’s Young People’s Champion, said: “We’re delighted to have Youth Beatz back after what feels like a long three years without Scotland’s largest free youth music festival.

“I am looking forward to seeing this fantastic event return not only for the high-quality music headliners at the end of each day but for the valuable experiences it provides to our young people.

“Youth Beatz has helped give young people a real-life taste of working in events management, performing through the immersive youth led drama production The Toon and the opportunity to undertake their Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award through the festival.”

A new partnership between the Youth Beatz Festival and DG Arts Festival will see a second performance stage called UPLOAD that will provide performance slots for young musicians from the region to show off their talent.

The award-winning event is managed through a partnership led by the council’s Young Peoples Service, in conjunction with the Oasis Events Team.

Finlay Smail, a volunteer from the Oasis team, said: “We are delighted that Youth Beatz is back for 2022 and can’t wait to get stuck in all over again.”
