Vegan fashion brand launches nostalgic Teletubby heels for £20

Tinky Winky, Dipsy, La La, or Po? Can you remember which you favourite Teletubby was from the much-loved 90s show? Whichever it was, you can now wear them on your feet after a footwear brand launched a range of boots and heels inspired by the nostalgic TV show.

Koi Footwear have their own range of Teletubby apparel, with no fewer than 10 pairs of shoes inspired by the show available. And you won’t have to break the bank to wear them either, with eight of the pairs costing under £20.

It means you could, if you really wanted to, buy all 10 pairs and still only spend £246.92, almost a tenth of the price of designer Christian Cowan's boots.

The Koi range features a pair of gothic inspired ‘Tubbytronic’ Dipsy boots that have proven so popular, they’ve only got a size four left. The patent vegan boots are completed with silver chains and a decapitated Dipsy head.

Each of the Teletubbies have also been transformed into a pair of Mary Jane shoes, retailing at £19.99. The shoes all have their corresponding character on the toe of the shoe, with their geometrical antenas poking off the end of the footwear.

Slightly more subtle but equally as colourful are the platform boots, which don’t feature a Teletubby face, but do come in the same colours and texture of a Teletubby - as though made of their skin. Though, no Teletubbies have been harmed in the making of these vegan shoes.

If Naughty Noo Noo, the mischievous vacuum cleaner is your favourite, then there’s a shoe for them, too. Completed with a velcro strap of Noo Noo's eyes, chunky platform sole and silver detailing, they come in at £50 - the most expensive of all the boots.

The Koi Footwear range of Teletubby shoes may not be a pair of £2k Dipsy stilettos, but they’ll certainly turn heads in the same way.

Speaking on his luxury fashion design, Cowan said: “"I grew up watching the Teletubbies, so being able to combine that nostalgia with my passion for fashion is a dream come true.

"The characters’ fun, playful personalities match my own design aesthetic, so I’m excited to launch this new collection to show the Teletubbies in a new light and celebrate them as the stars that they are."

The Teletubbies first appeared on our screens in 1997, with children’s bedrooms filled with plush toys, and themed merch from clothes and toys to pencil cases and stationery.

If 25 years on you still want to rep the children’s show characters, you can shop the Koi boot collection here.
