Manchester United face rivals Leeds United on Sunday as they aim to make it back-to-back victories and retain their place in the top four of the Premier League.
The Red Devils defeated Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 in midweek, despite missing a few key players.
And interim manager Ralf Rangnick will be hoping to welcome back one or two faces who missed out through injury for the defeat of the Seagulls.
United had four players sidelined ahead of Tuesday’s fixture and will want to ensure that no more will be added to that list ahead of this weekend.
Here is the current state of play at Old Trafford and the potential return dates for those currently on the sidelines.
Where will Man Utd finish in the league table this season? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
Raphael Varane
Defender Raphael Varane was a last-minute exclusion from the Man Utd squad for the 2-0 victory over Brighton on Tuesday due to illness ahead of the game.
The French international experienced some stomach problems and failed to improve after taking some medication, although it is hoped that he will be back in contention for Sunday’s game with Leeds.
Following Tuesday’s game, Rangnick said: "On the way from the hotel after dinner and team meeting, he had stomach problems. We were hoping to get rid of it with medication but he did not feel well."
Nemanja Matic
Nemanja Matic was absent for a second game in a row for Tuesday’s visit of Brighton as he continues to suffer with a shin injury.
The Serbian midfielder missed out on a number of training sessions last week and is still yet to come back into the fold, but Rangnick has revealed that he could be in contention for Sunday's visit to Leeds.
Speaking on Friday, Rangnick said: "Nemanja was back; he did quite well [in training]. He's maybe available for Leeds but definitely the next two games. We will take it one by one."
Edinson Cavani
Edinson Cavani also continued his absence from the squad on Tuesday as he aims to overcome a groin injury sustained in training last week.
The striker pulled out ahead of the Southampton game on Saturday and failed to recover in time for the victory over Brighton, and he looks set to miss out again for the trip to Leeds on Sunday.
On Frday, Ragnick said: "Well, as it seems, Edinson Cavani will still be out. He is still having some problems with his groin."
Eric Bailly
Defender Eric Bailly is currently out with an ankle injury and has yet to feature for his side since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations ahead of the FA Cup tie with Middlesbrough on February 4.
Bailly has been struggling with a swollen ankle, although the extent of this injury hasn’t been made clear.
However, with it being almost two weeks since his return, there could be a chance that he may have overcome the worst of it in time to be available for Sunday’s game with Leeds.
Tom Heaton
Third choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton will be unavailable for selection ahead of this weekend after picking up an injury this week.
It is understood to be a groin strain and it is unclear as to how long it will keep him sidelined for.
However, the 35-year-old is currently being assessed and there are expected to be further updates.
