Vanessa Feltz's partner gave her list of things to work on a month before split

Vanessa Feltz's ex-partner Ben Ofoedu asked the presenter to 'relax' during arguments only a month before they split.

The 60-year-old and her fiancé Ben, 50, were together since 2005, making appearances together on-screen and in magazines, but shocked fans when they split recently.

A teary Vanessa even appeared on This Morning for the first time after the split on Wednesday and admitted she felt 'humiliated' by it.

Things between the two seemed to be going normally in December when they wrote each other letters in Best Magazine.

In the columns, they discussed their New Year's resolutions and what they wanted from each other to improve the relationship.

He wrote to her: "I was kinda thinking maybe you could do a few things that would make our relationship stronger and cause less strife.

"I was thinking you could relax a little when we argue and not want to win every disagreement - so unless it's essential that one of us is always 'right', I think we can agree to disagree, as life is too short for arguing."

She also had a few requests for Ben and asked him for a compromise where she would stop obsessing over time-keeping if he drank less.

Vanessa also asked him to pass his driving test so he could become the designated driver as she 'had the privilege of doing it for 16 years'.

Meanwhile, the presenter sat down with This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield at the start of the programme to open up about her split.

She admitted the news that she and Phats & Small singer Ben had parted after 16 years was both a sudden shock and a ‘gradual thing’.

The TalkTV presenter went on to say that she has found enormous solace in the support she has received from others, since announcing the split on Instagram over the weekend.

“People have been amazing,” she said in the ITV studio. “Absolutely amazing and of course, it helps a lot.

“I can’t sleep at all, so reading thousands and thousands of messages from lovely people on Instagram is something to do in the night.”

She added: “When you have to end a relationship it’s very hard. I’ve had what feels like millions of messages from so, so many people going through it.

“I wouldn’t want to minimise in any way what it’s like when you’re heartbroken. It’s horrible.”
