Vanessa Feltz's ex-fiancé Ben Ofoedu gave her a list to 'cause less strife' in their relationship

Vanessa Feltz's ex-fiancé Ben Ofoedu gave her tips to 'cause less strife' in their relationship just a month before their split.

The TV personality has opened up about her recent heartbreak following a split after 16 years together. The couple met in 2005, and only announced they had gone their separate ways over the weekend when Vanessa, 60, shared the news on social media.

Vanessa appeared on This Morning on Wednesday and told Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield how grateful she is over the outpouring support on social media. She said: "I've had what feels like millions of messages, so so many from people going through it and I wouldn't want to minimise in anyway what it's like when you're heartbroken. It's horrible."

The couple's split came as a shock for both fans and Vanessa as the couple wrote each other letters in Best Magazine late last year. In their columns, Vanessa and Ben addressed New Year's resolutions to one another to help improve and strengthen their relationship, as reports the Mirror.

He wrote to her: "I was kinda thinking maybe you could do a few things that would make our relationship stronger and cause less strife. I was thinking you could relax a little when we argue and not want to win every disagreement - so unless it's essential that one of us is always 'right', I think we can agree to disagree, as life is too short for arguing."

Vanessa also had some requests for Ben, and suggested that she would stop obsessing over time-keeping if he drank less. She also added it would be great if he passed his driving test so he could become the designated driver as she 'had the privilege of doing it for 16 years'.

In the emotional interview with TalkTV, Vanessa said she is "nursing a broken heart" but is determined to "keep on trucking" as she prepares to turn 61 this month.

"I can’t be the only person in the country nursing a broken heart, can I? I am absolutely determined to put my best foot forward, to keep on trucking, all that sort of stuff. Keep calm and carry on," she said.

"Having said all of this, obviously inside I’m feeling all sorts of things, no questions about it. Very hurt, very sad, terribly disappointed, worried about the future, all the normal stuff – of course I am."
