Vanessa Feltz has named two of her 'proper' This Morning pals after they supported her following her split from fiance Ben Ofoedu. The TV and radio star shared the news of her split from her partner of 16 years at the start of February by sharing a video on Instagram.
In the sad clip, Vanessa told her followers that she was "shocked" and "incredibly sad" and revealed that the trust had been broken in her relationship. Ben, who shot to fame as one-half of the dance duo Phats &Small in 1998 with the massive hit Turn Around, later admitted he had cheated on her.
Ben, 50, broke his silence on the split by confirming his infidelity for the first time in an exclusive interview with The Mirror. In the chat he admitted that he betrayed Vanessa's trust for a second time after she forgave him for cheating at the start of their relationship. He shared how his fiancee forgave him after he had sex three times with an older woman but he insisted that the affair in Ibiza was "just sex – and a chore."
But he then admitted that his relationship was finally over when he later 'sexted' one woman and 'flirted' with another. Vanessa has since been ploughing on with her new life as a single woman and the 61-year-old has revealed to OK! that she has taken on the advice she would tell anyone else to follow, which is taking it "day by day".
She continued: "Otherwise, it’s very easy to catastrophise and think, 'Everything has changed. I don’t feel normal. I don’t know how long this is going to go on – what if it goes on forever? What if I’m never happy? What if I don’t recover?'" Vanessa added: "You can quickly fast-forward to a place of complete panic, shock and turmoil that whatever it is you thought you could rely on, you can’t, and whatever you thought was a permanent and a constant, isn’t."
Vanessa also revealed how her friends have rallied in support, revealing the bond she shares with her This Morning co-stars Holly Willoughby and Alison Hammond. and how the pair have been among those helping her through. "I’ve known Alison for about 21 years, and Holly for 10 – it’s a long time," she told the publication.
"We’re proper friends in real life. It’s not just a TV thing, it’s a real thing. Both of those women are 100 per cent there for me, and have been in various different circumstances."
Explaining how they’ve provided vital support during her recent turmoil, she added: "Without question, they’re among the first women I hear from. They’re great women and they’re great friends. What you see on TV is what they’re really like, and they’re very funny. They are excellent company and tremendous for a girls’ night out."
