Vanessa Feltz admits she's 'trying not to think' about the future after Ben Ofoedu split

Vanessa Feltz admits she's not thinking far into the future following her heartbreaking split from Ben Ofoedu earlier this year.

Vanessa, 61, ended her relationship with Ben, 50, after finding out he had been unfaithful multiple times across their 16-year relationship. The TV agony aunt revealed following their split that she had found out about Ben's infidelity on Christmas Day and decided to end their engagement.

Five months on, Vanessa admits she's been out and about constantly as she tries to put the betrayal behind her. In an interview with OK! Magazine, she said: “In truth I’m trying not to think about the future too much, because if you start to do that you could get very nervous and worried and start catastrophising, thinking, ‘What if?’ and, ‘How much longer?’”

“I’m trying to do the opposite of that and really live in the moment and enjoy that. I’m not saying it’s easy to do and that I never think about the future – of course I do! I’m trying not to though. I’m trying not to start worrying, wondering or pondering.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Vanessa opened up about the traits she's looking for in her next partner. “They’d have to be kind and honest – those would be the primary requirements,” she said.

“Gentle, kind, good-humoured, good-natured and honest and transparent.

She added: "So, I would really like it if someone said they were going to post a letter, they were really going to post a letter. That would be incredibly reassuring.

“Obviously, I’m still up for incredibly handsome, enormously entertaining, very clever, dynamic – all that razzly-dazzly stuff I still want and like. I’m like anyone else – you’ve got to fancy the person, there’s got to be some chemistry, of course. But the absolute optimum thing would be kindness and honesty.”

This comes after ex-fiancé Ben has found a new career path as a dating guru giving dating tips for an online magazine. The Phats & Small singer is now dishing out relationship advice for Mind Jump Monthly as an agony uncle.

In response to a reader asking how to make up with an angry girlfriend, he suggested: "Apologise for any mistakes made and express genuine regret. Show that you are willing to do what it takes to make things right and ask for forgiveness."
