Vance blames 'the left' for Trump assassination attempts: 'No one has tried to kill Kamala Harris'

Republican vice-presidential candidate J.D. Vance insinuated during an appearance at the Georgia Faith & Freedom Coalition dinner in Atlanta that the left's rhetoric is to blame for the assassination attempts against Donald Trump.

Before addressing the left, Vance shared that Trump called him after Sunday's assassination attempt to discuss what had happened. He said Trump even made a joke that he was getting ready to make a birdie putt before it happened, as seen in Washington Post's video from the event.

"It's popular on a lot of corners of the left to say we have a both sides problem" Vance said, adding that he's "not going to say that conservatives always get things exactly right" before launching into why the left is to blame.

"The big difference between conservatives and liberals is that no one has tried to kill Kamala Harris in the last couple of months, and two people now have tried to kill Donald Trump in the last couple of months," Vance continued, "I'd say that's pretty strong evidence that the left needs to tone down the rhetoric and needs to cut this crap out."

As seen in the recording, Vance said "somebody's going to be hurt by it and it's going to destroy the country" before stating how he will change his behavior. He also spoke directly to people wishing harm on Trump.

"I promise I will do my part to tone down the rhetoric," Vance said. "But in particular, the people telling you that Donald Trump needs to be eliminated. You guys need to cut it out, or you're gonna get somebody hurt."

The second attempt of Trump's life came just two months after he was grazed by a bullet during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Trump sustained an injury to his ear, and one rally spectator was killed.
