Kevin van Veen insists he remains fully focused on helping Motherwell finish the season as strongly as possible – but admitted he does not know what the future will hold after being linked with a move away from Fir Park.
The 31-year-old – who is one of four nominees for PFA Scotland’s player of the year award alongside Celtic trio Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate and Kyogo Furuhashi – has been in scintillating form this term, chipping in with 20 league goals.
The Dutchman’s contract expires at the end of next season and there has been speculation that he could move on from Motherwell this summer, and the man himself admits that he cannot say for certain what the future holds.
“At this moment in time, of course I love the club,” Van Veen told Sky Sports when asked about his future at Fir Park. “They gave me this platform to show what I can do.
“In the future I can’t really say too much because I have already said it before in an interview. If everything has the green light and everyone is happy with whatever is going to happen then we need to discuss and talk about it.
“But at this moment in time I am very happy and delighted to play for Motherwell. All my focus is on Motherwell but you can never predict what will happen in the summer.”
Van Veen added that he is thrilled to be included in the running for the PFA player of the season award, and believes he is in the best form of his career.

“It means a lot to be in contention with three Celtic players – three massive players, as well, top-quality players,” he said. “For me it is already a massive achievement and I’m very delighted.
“Personally, I just kept scoring – even when the team were on a downward spiral and we were finding it very tough to win games. We were bottom of the league for a while and we climbed out of that as a collective, as a group.
“Of course, my goals were an important part of that but so were the performances from all the lads to stand up to the test and get us out of a downward spiral. So I am very happy that we are where we are at this moment in time and personally, I want to stay at this level and keep on scoring.
“It's probably the best [I’ve ever played]. It feels like the best. I think the experience of everything I have been through helps me. Motherwell have given me this platform and I am just here to show my abilities and what I’m capable of.
“My team-mates have been a massive help with that as well and I am just delighted to show everybody what I can do. Hopefully I can continue that.”
