Van engulfed in flames on Scots road as dramatic picture shows huge blaze

Emergency crews raced to a country road in Fife after a van went up in flames.

The blaze, in Cluny Road, Kirkcaldy, was reported to fire officers just before 2pm on Saturday March 12.

Dramatic images posted online by Fife Jammers show ferocious flames pouring out of the bonnet and towering over the front windscreen of the motor.

The van can be seen in the middle of the B981 as the fire rages on.

One appliance attended and the blaze was extinguished, with crews leaving at 2.51pm.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service told the Record that they have no reports of any injuries.

Fire chiefs said they did not have information regarding the cause of the fire.

A spokeswoman said: "We were called to attend a fan fire in Cluny Road, Kirkcaldy at 1.56pm on Saturday.

"One appliance attended to extinguish the fire.

"Crews left when the area was made safe at 2.51pm.

"We would not provide information on casualties.

"Information on injuries reported would come from the ambulance service."

The Daily Record contacted Police Scotland.

The SAS were also contacted for comment.
